Elvis has been passionate about music for all of his adult life, funneling his creativity through his singing, songwriting, and music-making skills. With this in mind, and the career he has had so far, it was important to find out more about this true legend.
What is it about being a singer-song writer that you enjoy the most?
Elvis: Bring out thoughts and words and meaning to music to reality to the people
If you were to describe your music to potential new listeners what would it be?
Elvis:It is real and its true and its country
From reading your bio, I was impressed to read about your days in the army during your teen years – how influential has that part of your life been on the music you make today?
Elvis: My sgt was killed and I was injured and had allot of friends to die I wrote “LOVING A SOLDIER “and Vietnam Blues, from that, came back to tell the story in music I give donation to Hospitalized Vets, The Vietnam Wall Memorial fund I performed at the Wall in DC 20th and 25th Anniversary ,The 1st inf div
What was it that motivated you to pursue your music career in the first place?
Elvis: MY FATHER PLAYED THE GUITAR AND SANG IT WAS A WAY TO EX-SCAPE THE HARDSHIP ALL MY LIFE
Being a solo artist do you think its a good thing, compared to say being in a band?
Elvis: WELL I’VE BEEN IN BANDS BUT IT IS MUCH BETTER SOLO BECAUSE YOU DON’T HAVE TO DEAL WITH ALL THE BAGGAGE AND YOU DON’T HAVE TO CHARGE SO MUCH,I CAN STEEL GET BAND IF THE VENUE IS PAYING ENOUGH
With the name Elvis many may often refer to Elvis Presley – however what is it about Elvis Carden which gives you that extra edge?!
Elvis: I WAS NAMED AFTER HIM BEFORE HE WAS BIG MY MOTHER LIVED IN MISS ABOUT 10 MILES AWAY THEY SHARED CROPS TOGETHER THAT WAS NOT UNCOMMON BACK THEN I WAS THE FIRST BORN IN GA MY OTHER OLDER BROTHER AND SISTERS WERE IN MISSISSIPPI AND WE ALL LOVED HIS MUSIC AND I WRITE MY OWN
You are still living in your home town near Georgia. How supportive have your local community been to your music?
Elvis: YES ONE OF MY BROTHER GARY IS CARRYING OWN THE FAMILY BUSINESS CARDEN’S GLASS COMPANY
I understand you have a sweet tooth – if you could write a random song about any type of desert, what would you choose?
Elvis: CHEERY ICE CREAM
After such a impressive and dedicated career, how did it feel to be awarded things such as COMA International Male Recording Artist in 2005, and Patriotic Song of the Year in 1990?
Elvis: THIS WAS A GREAT TIME IN MY LIFE , IT MADE YOU FEEL THAT YOU HAD COMPLETED SOMETHING WITH YOUR WORK IN THIS MUSIC BUSINESS
Have you had any regrets?
Elvis: YES I WOULD THINK WE ALL DO. BUT THIS WAS THE ROAD I WAS PUT ON AND YOU MAKE THE BEST OF IT I WISHED I COULD DONE MORE RECORDED MORE AND MAKE MORE HI T’S WERE I COULD HELP ALLOT MORE PEOPLE
What methods other than the internet have you used to get your music heard?
Elvis: I HAVE HAD MY MUSIC SENT OUT BY EH KING TEX ,HMG NASHVILLE,MUSIC REVIEW NY,BEFORE THE INTERNET ,I HAVE SENT CD’S AROUND THE WORLD TO DJ RADIO MAG ADDS
Obviously with so many achievements throughout the years you will have plenty of good memories. However what is the one good memory that stands out?
Elvis:WHEN I LITE THE GUITAR HOUSE UP FOR CHRISTMAS FOR THE FIRST TIME AND GAVE AWAY A TOY TO A LITTLE GIRL FOR TOYS FOR TOTS AND IT GOT MEDIA COVERAGE FROM CHANNEL 5 NEWS HERE IN ATLANTA GA I WROTE THE SONG LIVING IN AN OLD GUITAR
Your talent and creativity does not only exist in your music but everyday life as well. What inspired you to design your legendary Guitar House in Fayetteville, Georgia?!
Elvis: WHEN I CAME BACK FROM NAM I HAD THIS VISION TO BUILD IT BUT IT WAS TO BE MUCH BIGER BUT DUE TO MONEY I DOWN SIZED IT TO A HOUSE DRAWN THE PLANS FROM MY GUITAR ON A CARDBOARD BOX 16 YEARS LATER IT WAS THERE IT TOOK 7 MONTHS TO FRAME
What can fans expect from you and your music in the new year?
Elvis: I HAVE WROTE TWO MORE SONG ONE IS CALLED ‘BUS DRIVER’S THE SCHOOLS BUS DRIVERS MY WIFE IS ONE AND ITS UP BEAT TUNE I’M DOING SOME VIDEO ONE I DONE IS CALLED THE VISITOR THAT YOU CAN GO TO ON MY WEB SITE AND DOWN BY THE RIVER IS REMASTERED GOING OUT NOW AFTER ‘CHRISTMAS WITHOUT MY DADDY’ ON GLORY TRAIN RECORDS
If there is one song which always gets your adrenaline going, what would it be?
Elvis:MR RAIN MAN’ THAT I WROTE WITH MY LATE BROTHER DAVID AND THANK YOU JESUS ‘FOR MY MOTHER THAT HAS WENT HOME TO BE WITH THE LORD
