Of Mice & Men

Of Mice and Men Review

By Ryan Howe

Of Mice and Men are a 5 piece Post-core/Metal core band, who to be quite honest have turned from a band a few of my mates were talking about, into one of my favourite bands, they are the type of band that even if you hated that genre you would still head bang along to their tracks! The founder of the band, lead vocalist and front man- Austin Carlile has an unreal singing voice that goes perfectly along with his amazing screaming!

Currently touring alongside Bury Tomorrow this band has very good talent and every member plays a big part in the band. The members of the band are Austin Carlile– Lead Vocalist, Phil Manansala- Lead Guitar, Alan Ashby- Rhythm Guitar, Shayley Bourget- Bass Guitar and finally Alan Ashby- Drums. I was shocked when I first heard them; they had heart stopping breakdowns. I just wanted to buy a ticket to their next gig, they have unreal bass and drums keeping the timing and keeping the breakdowns alive then the guitars playing alongside makes the perfect music.

So if you’re bored of listening to the same music or just want an extra band to hear and to see at gigs I’d definitely give this band a listen, it takes little effort to listen to them and is worth listening to.

When asked about the band’s name origin, vocalist Austin Carlile responded with;

‘The book Of Mice and Men says ‘the well laid plans of mice and men often falter.’ You make plans, and they get screwed up. Jaxin Hall (Previous band member) and I both had plans for life, and they both got screwed up, so now we’re making the most of what we can.’

They released their first album in 2010 called ‘Of Mice and Men’ and their second album in 2011 called ‘The Flood’ both of these with the label Rise Records,

Personally my favourite song by this band is ‘Those in Glass Houses’ but all of their songs are amazing, I can’t fault them in anyway, they totally inspire me and many others

They seem very confident and up for a laugh! They seem like at their gigs they will have a huge turn out and their music will get pits that you will remember for a very long time! Their fans love them and I’m sure many more would if they heard their music.

They have toured many times! Here is a list;
